Rally—often called Rally Obedience or Rally-O—is a fun, fast-paced, and relatively new sport in the dog world. Think of it as a hybrid: if traditional Obedience and Agility had a puppy, it would look a lot like Rally!
A Rally course is made up of a series of signs, and each sign tells you what skill or exercise to perform at that station. The Canadian Kennel Club offers 95 possible signs across four levels: Novice, Advanced, Excellent, and Masters. Each level includes a set of tasks your dog must complete, and you’ll need to perform every station correctly to earn a qualifying score.
Exercises may include:
• Turns to the left or right • Halts with a sit at your side • Weaving through cones • Walking around your sitting dog in a full circle • And at higher levels, jumping challenges
Rally is a wonderful way to build focus, teamwork, and confidence. It offers the structure of obedience with the energy of agility—and it’s suitable for all kinds of dogs and handlers.
Come out and give this fast and fun sport a try with your dog!
