For the safety of all, students must do obedience classes with McCanns and have their instructors recommendation for Agility to participate. Priority for Agility classes is always given to current students.

In the Foundation and Control class, dogs and handlers will learn proper foundation in preparation for competition in the exciting sport of Dog Agility! In this busy class environment, dogs must be able to work off-leash or with a light line dragging to participate. Dogs will learn obstacle skills such as jumps and tunnels as well as foundation skills and body awareness through exercises designed to prepare them for success in Agility. Handlers will learn control exercises to help focus and motivate their dogs in the agility ring.

Both dog and handler must have successfully completed a minimum of Grade 3 at McCann Professional Dog Trainers with excellent verbal control and must have their instructors recommendation to participate in Agility.

Level 2 is for the dog and handler team who have some foundation training and strong enough verbal control that they can successfully work off-leash in a busy class environment. Dogs will continue their foundation training using jumps and tunnels and will also be introduced to all remaining pieces of equipment including contracts and weave poles. Basic handling skills will also be covered. By the end of the program, dogs will be able to work short, basic sequences using most of the equipment.

Lessons in this program differ from week to week and are planned around the skill level of the dog and handler teams in class. This makes it possible for teams to make gradual progress over multiple sessions without losing interest or sacrificing fun. Dogs must be confident on all obstacles, including low set teeter and straight weaves to participate. Guide wires may still be used on weave poles.

Dogs entering into the Skills & Drills class should have a strong understanding of all obstacles and equipment including a basic understanding of the teeter and weave poles. All dogs must work off-leash in this level. Distance skills, obstacle discrimination, directional cues, longer sequences and course running will be covered. Handers will learn the technique and handling skills required for running a smooth agility course. This class is ideally suited to those competing in Starters or Novice level trials and to those who are new handlers to the sport of dog agility.

This class is perfect for dog and handler teams who are competing in the Advanced or Master levels. OneMind Dog Methodology will be incorporated, so handlers must have basic understanding of these skills to participate. Distance skills for gambles and more advanced handling drills, obstacle discriminations, directional cues and proofing exercises will prepare teams for competition. Other games offered at trials will also be covered. Handlers must have a recommendation made by their Skills & Drills coach to participate in Competition Agility.

This class is for handlers interested in working their dogs at an International level. Drills and sequences will be directed towards Master Challenge classes and International level competitions. This class will focus on intricate handling sequences, course running and analysis, and handling decisions. Techniques from the OneMind Dog Methodology will be taught and put into practice. This class is by invitation only. Contact Kayl McCann (mailto:This email address is being protected from spambots.
