September & October 2008 Agility Training Schedules
(Attend once weekly for 8 weeks)

Fitness & Foundation for K9 Sports
Day & Time: Saturdays 2:15 - 3:15 pm Starting Sept. 20th

Wednesdays 9:30 - 10:30 pm Starting Oct. 22nd
Prerequisite: Grade 2 or Grade 3 with recommendation from instructor. Dogs must be able to drag leash/line with excellent verbal control.
Location: Main building in Halls 2 & 3 (with a few visits to the Agility Arena).
Content:
  1. Introduce basic agility equipment, foundation exercises & verbal control that will prepare dogs for agility.
  2. Flyball jumping & retrieving for fun & exercise to prepare dogs for Beginner Flyball.
  3. Rally Obedience for the control aspect of the class. This will introduce Rally maneuvers at the Novice level.
Agility Level 1 - "Learning the Obstacles"

Tuesdays 11:00 - 12:00 pm
7:00 - 8:00 pm
Starting Sept. 16th

Mondays 7:00 - 8:00 pm Starting Oct. 20th
Prerequisite: Fitness & Foundation for K9 Sports with a recommendation from the instructor. Dogs must be able to work off leash with excellent verbal control.
Location: Indoor agility arena
Content: Dogs will learn how to perform each of the obstacles and will also learn some simple sequences. Handlers will learn the basic criteria and rules for trialing.
Agility Level 2 - "Skills"
Day & Time: Mondays 8:15 - 9:15 pm Starting Oct. 20th
Prerequisite: Agility Level 1 with a recommendation from the instructor. Dogs must be ablt to work off leash with excellent verbal control. Dogs must be confident on all obstacles to participate in this class.
Location: Indoor agility arena
Content: Handlers will learn handling moves, reliable contact training, how to reduce guides on weave poles, course running skills and distance work as well as other skills to prepare handlers for more advanced agility training.
Agility Trial Prep
Day & Time: Tuesdays 8:15 - 9:15 pm Starting Sept. 16th
Prerequisite: Agility Level 2 with a recommendation from the instructor. Dogs must be able to work off leash with excellent verbal control. Dogs must have a strong understanding of the contact obstacles and must be able to weave independently on both the left and right sides.
Location: Indoor agility arena
Content: Preparation for trialing using drills and courses. Handlers will also be introduced to agility games (Gamblers, Snooker, Steeplechase, Jumpers and Team Relay). This course is also designed to be a maintenance course for students currently completing.



PRACTICE TIME - RING & EQUIPMENT RENTAL TIME:

You may reserve ring space to train your dog using the agility equipment. All dogs must have completed basic agility training and a waiver must be signed. Please call the office for availability.

Payment accepted by: Cash, Debit or Credit Card
Payment is due with reservation


Rates:

$20.00 per 1/2 hour for 1 person per ring
$60.00 per hour for 2 - 5 people sharing a ring
Current McCann Agility Students: $10.00+gst for 1/2 hour (1 person/ring)

Punch Cards: $100.00+gst for 6, 1/2 hour rental times

Times Available:

Monday to Friday Daytime: 10:30 am - 6:30 pm,
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday Evenings: 6:30 - 9:00 pm
Saturdays: 9:30 - 1:30 pm

Availability varies. Please contact our office to reserve your training time.

Please Note:
  • All dogs must have completed basic agility training. Dogs must be under control at all times. Dogs showing aggressive behaviour will not be allowed to train in the arena.
  • Hanlders must sign our waiver & show proof of vaccination for their dogs. A copy of the Arena rules will be available at time of check in.
  • The arena is divided into two rings. Please indicate which ring is preferred at time of reservation. Ring 1 (closest to the main entrance) has equipment which is suitable for less experienced dogs. Ring 2 has regulation equipment. You may move the equipment in the ring as needed.
